The first meeting for the 2007 - 2008 term of Shell Lake and District Lions Club will be Monday Sept. 3 at 8 p.m. at the Lions Hall. Once again this will be a critical year for your community Lions Club. The past two years the Lions club has had to complete several serious maintenance upgrades to the hall and this has put serious management and financial stressors to the clubs membership. There still remains several required improvements to the hall and the importance of community support of our up coming fund-raiser events is critical.
Our Bingos are holding their own as a major fundraiser, but we are in a serious situation with the need for bingo volunteer workers.
Our membership is another year older and if your community hall is to remain viable, we need to have strong, vibrant and younger new members with new ideas and a revitalized enthusiasm. Contact any of the Lions club members for further details and information if you can help out at bingos or any other function as a community volunteer or interested as a new member in the Shell Lake & Community Lions Club.
The next events will be Saturday Oct. 27 Colby Nargang Show, with possible guest performer to be announced later. $15.00 advance tickets will be on sale soon. Desert/ cold lunch after show being considered. Watch for details. Our regular annual "Novemberfest" will be Saturday November 10 /07 "Jim and Martin" the attending band. Admission will be $35.00 ea. and limited to 200 tickets. For any additional club information please contact Lion President Doug, Lion Treasurer Corrie , Lion Secretary Lilian. For bngo, information contact Lion Jack Diesen

Thank you to the community of Shell Lake for sharing the Gazebo and other facilities with the attendees of the 5th annual Shell Lake "Carve-In" on August 17, 18, and 19, 2007. A special thanks to Allan Stalwick for firing up the clay oven on Saturday and to Joyce Skarpinsky for making the bread and cinnamon buns. Thanks also to the other volunteers who helped with serving and selling the bread and buns. They were delicious! We really appreciate your taking time for us!
Thanks to Bud Dicus for being available to let us into the storage shed to get the tables and to take back our keys when the event was over.
Thank you to those providing accommodations in Shell Lake and the surrounding area, and to the Hungry Mann's Diner for managing to keep us all fed.
We had 25 carvers participate this year. They came from Edmonton and Sherwood Park, AB, and various points all over Saskatchewan.
We'd also like to thank all the visitors who took the time to come and browse through the Gazebo to see what we were doing.
The 6th annual Carve-In has been booked for August 15, 16, and 17, 2008 and we would really like to see some of the local carvers join in.
