This time next year, September 2009 your present council will have fulfilled their required term as council members.
I urge citizens to begin contemplating on putting their names forward when the election process begins next fall. The Village operates with a five person council and is a valuable opportunity to significantly put forth your wealth of knowledge on serving the community.
This may sound like a broken record; however, it needs to be repeated. The garbage contractor is to pick up citizens `bagged' garbage only. If you can't `bag' it, then utilize facilities as the one located in Canwood to handle items such as furniture, lumber, appliances and metal. The Village maintenance personnel will pick up garden and grass clippings on designated days set by the village office or contacting Kurt Reed.
Immense thanks goes to Joan Calvert, who did a great job on cleaning, opening and closing the village bathrooms this summer. For the rest of the year, the village bathrooms are closed except for groups or events upon request.
The new residences being built in the village is an appreciated sight and a strong indication of continuing growth. There are plans for additional development in the Village; however, there are always numerous barriers that appear to cause a delay in the process.
Mayor, Paula Stalwick
