Provincial Golf

Congratulations to Dana Spriggs of Debden for her accomplishments in Provincial High School Golf. Dana represented Debden High School on Sept. 22 & 23 at the North Battleford Golf and Country Club where she placed 9th. Dana is the granddaughter of Ed and Agnes Fusick and great granddaughter of Dorothy Haroldson of Shell Lake.

Surprise Visit

On Tuesday, September 12, Ed and Gladys Simonar had a surprise visit from the McKay
girls, Joyce Newman and Grace Downey. They had come to visit their parent's graves. Doris Ahlquist and Clarice Kardash missed their visit - they had just left for their home in Alberta after spending four days in Shell Lake visiting .

Thank you to all who supported our Birthday Calendar campaign,. They will be available sometime in November.

Shell Lake 50 Plus

Shell Lake seniors monthly pot luck supper-meeting was recently held at which time several items were discussed. The next anniversary/birthday party will be held October 16 with a special guest speaker Sheila Reghi who is the Region B Director for SSAI. We wish to extend an invitation to all seniors to our next monthly pot luck supper held on October 23. Currently we are accepting donations of used clothing, stuffed toys, jewellery, hats,purses, etc. These items will be given as prizes for the annual bingo party held at the Saskatchewan Hospital, North Battleford in November and hosted by the Shell Lake seniors. Items may be dropped off at the 50+ hall or at the home of Phyllis Johnson.

How does a morning game of pool & coffee sound? If you enjoy the game and are interested give Doug a call at 427-4498 to get the balls rolling.

Wellness Clinic will be held at Schwartz Villa on Oct 2nd.

Little Wonders Clubhouse

The Little Wonders Clubhouse is looking for individuals to go on a substitute facilitator list. Resumes can be dropped off at the school. If you would like more information contact Michelle Francoeur @ 427 4779

4H Beef Club

There will be a meeting on October 16 at 7:30p.m. in the Spiritwood High School for anyone who is interested in joining the 4H Beef Club. For more information please contact Noreen Reed @ 427-4502 or Wendy Brewer @ 427- 2126

Streetscape

Thank you goes to Don Weiers for installing the street lamps in the centennial park. The lights will be turned on as soon as the electrician connects the wire to the service panel. Six shrubs were replaced this fall and the turf is looking very healthy to go into winter.

Tourism

A meeting was held on September 20 to discuss the future of Homesteader Hey-Days. There were 25 people in attendance with an excellent exchange of ideas. Plans are underway to make the 25th Hey-Days a success taking into consideration some of the ideas. Thank you goes to Joan Calvert for watering the plants during the summer season. Thanks to Loretta Lamontagne, Phyllis Johnson, Kathy Lutz and Joan Calvert for helping Anita Weiers with the fall cleaning of the rock garden. Since the barrels are still blooming , Sandra Howard will clean them at a later date.

For the Record. . .

Joyce Mayo passed away on September 5, 2006 at the age of 69 years. Joyce leaves to mourn her husband Herb and her daughter Wendy Yuzwenko and her family.

The mass will be every Saturday at 9 p.m. except for the third and fifth Saturday, it will be at 7 p.m.

Evangelical Free Church, Mont Nebo

Sunday school at 10 a.m. and service and church service at 11 a.m.

Vi Duncan would like to thank all those who helped her celebrate her 85th birthday at the Seniors on Sept. 23rd.

Some sad news for those who knew my uncle Andrew Leblanc he passed away the last week of July .The funeral will be held in Melfort on Wednesday Aug.2nd at 2pm at the Catholic church,for anyone wishing to attend.To better things!
