Shell Lake Community Hi-litesPlans for a Shell Lake School Reunion are in the works. Since the school is closing in 2010, we hope we can generate enough interest from anyone that ever attended our school. Right now a lot of interest is circulating on Facebook. If you search Shell Lake Saskatchewan Reunion you will find a page that will be updated often. If you are not on Facebook, please email schoolreunion@canada.com and we will gladly forward you updates as they occur or on a monthly basis. If you ever attended the school or worked with the school, we are hoping you will attend a celebration on June 26th, 2010. Right after Christmas we will be pushing for sponsors, volunteers, stories, photographs, anything you would like to contribute to an event that should be celebrated. More to come in the near future.

We held a meeting on October 17th, to discuss the future of the curling rink. We had twelve people in attendance and we do realize there were conflicting events on that day. From the discussions that we had, everyone was in agreement that we do not want to see the rink close, therefore, the executive has decided on a few things. First, we are asking that everyone that is interested in curling this winter must make a firm commitment to curl. We need to see our league membership grow in order to keep the rink open. Second, we are going to try something a little different this year by offering a Saturday evening as our curling night . If there is a group of people wanting to curl another evening, we will certainly look at those options too.
We are having a registration night on November 21, 2009. We will not be calling anyone, you must show up on this evening to register. Along with the registration we will be having a potluck supper and our Annual General Meeting which will include new executive and committee elections. Everything will begin at 6:30 sharp.
The Curling Club will also be accepting applications for an Ice Maintenance Person. The duties include general janitorial duties around the rink, scraping and cleaning of the ice prior to league curling, senior curling, and bonspiels. Please send applications to Box 472, Shell Lake, SK, S0J 2G0.
The Remembrance Day service will be on November 11 at 10:30 in the Partners in Worship Church. Lunch will follow at the Legion Hall. Everyone is welcome.

The 31st Annual Fall
supper was a huge success. Thank you to everyone for your generous
donation of food stuff and your time. Many community
members volunteered their help with preparation and cleanup
and we very much appreciate that. Has anyone found a stray glass
lid among their cooking pots? Peggy Dafoe is missing the lid to
her slow cooker.
