A reminder that the Shell Lake Lions Club is hosting the Walk For Diabetes Walk-A-Thon, on Friday May 8th leaving school at 11:00 a.m. Come one, Come all, get some exercise, renew friendships and have lunch afterwards. Sponsor sheets available at Shell Lake General Store and the school.
PWWA Mothers' Day Tea and Bake Sale on Saturday, May 9 from 2-4 p.m. at the church hall.
The Tourism Committee has set May 11th at 1 p.m. (weather permitting alternate day will be May 12th) for the annual clean up day. We encourage all residents and commercial property owners to clean their own lots. Bags will be supplied at the Village Office. Stop for refreshments after the cleanup at the Partners in Worship Church Hall.
Phillip, the town maintenance man, will pick up the bagged leaves, trees and small amounts of untreated lumber (only) on May 13th , if you have it out.
There will be a Yard Sale at the Diehl's residence (Junction of highway #3 and #12) on Saturday May 16 from 9 - 5 and Sunday, May 17 from 11 - 4.
Attention to all the businesses in and surrounding Shell Lake area - once again, the chamber will be holding its annual cabin drop. Business flyers / pamphlets will be distributed to approximately 750 cabins within the lake areas. The cost is $25.00 for chamber members and $50.00 for non members.
The annual cabin drop assembly will be on Monday, May 11 at 7 p.m. at the Pine Ridge Cottages. For more information regarding this please call JoyAnne Ardagh at 427-2044.
Bingo, that was usually held on the first and second Mondays of
each month at Schwartz Villa, has been cancelled until the fall. Wellness Clinic scheduled for May 11, 2009.

To date, the speaker invited for the Birthday/Anniversary party for the month of May has yet to confirm availability. Check with a 50+ member about the middle of the month for confirmation.
The 6th Annual Golfspiel - Best Ball will be held on Saturday June 6/09. Entry fee $40.00 per golfer. Enter as a team or an individual. Limit of 100 golfers. Entries taken by Dennis Simonar (427-2080) or Joy Anne Ardagh (427-2044/4749). Register by 8:30 a.m. June 6. Beef on the bun lunch to follow at the sport shelter at Memorial Lake. Donations of prizes or cash donations are greatly appreciated. Contact Joy Ardagh, Dennis Simonar or Kim Schira. Proceeds to the Shell Lake Curling Rink.
Any students and anyone else who used the rink facility are required to clean up the area before the grass gets growing and needs to be mowed. The clean up will be on Saturday May 9 at 3 p.m. After the clean up all the volunteers who have worked on the outdoor arena are invited to a weiner roast at 4 p.m.
Volunteers will be required to keep the outdoor rink looking trim during the summer. Let's not forget it just because it's summer.
Fast ball season is around the corner. Home games as follows: Wednesday, May 6 at 6:30 p.m; Thursday, May 28 at 6:30 p.m.; Thursday, June 4 at 6:30 p.m.
Umpires will be required for these dates; if you can help out please call Greg Ardagh or Larry Morris.
There is also a Learn to play program for 8 and under.

Congratulations to the Debden Novice Hockey team. They won the east division against Spiritwood. The west winner Edam won the overall league. Jonathon Ardagh and Jordan Ashe play on this team from this area.
Welcome, Eden Kidist Turgeon. Born September 2, 2008 in Ethiopia, Africa, home forever with her family, Rhonda & Kristin Turgeon from Spiritwood on April 16, 2009. Proud grandparents are Corrie Rush-Battersby & Richard Battersby and Hubert & Valerie Turgeon, Spiritwood.
Clinton Creary passed away on March 23/09 at the age of 86. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Verna, and his children Delray (Barb), Dale, Cheryl Fines, Coreen Spencer (David), and daughter in-law Brenda (Dimitri) Grammatikos and their families.
Marion Lafond passed away on April 18/09 at the age of 78 years.
The residents of the Schwartz Villa would like to thank Bud Dicus, Gilles Francoeur and Emil Lamontagne for coming and playing music for us; t was great. Also thank you to Jean Clark's grandchildren, Lisa and Jeff, for preparing a very delicious supper for us.
