Memorial Lake Regional Park & Community Lotto

The committee would like to congratulate Isaac & Rose Ens on their big win of our lottery and also congratulations to all the subsidiary prizes winners.

COMING EVENTS

Annual Village Clean Up will be held on Monday , May 12th. at 1 p.m. ending with refreshments at the library. We ask that you be responsible for cleaning your property from the street to alley and place the bagged garbage at your usual pick up site for pick up.

Thank you for your continued support in keeping our village attractive.

Ladies Fun Night Out Friday, May 2 - Saturday, May 3. Retreat at the Partners in Worship Church. Bring your sleeping bag, pillow, toiletries and snacks for Friday evening. Opal Cameron is the facilitator.

Time for - viewing Christian Comedy Film, crafts, sing songs and fellowship. Saturday supper provided - cost $2.00. Farewell after supper on Saturday. For more information call Fay Brewer or Lorraine Diesen.

Mother's Day Strawberry Tea & Bake Sale on May 10/08 in the Partners in Worship Church hall from 2 - 4 p.m.

Mother's Day Sale / Open House at Nadine Jones' on Saturday, May 10th from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Waffle Breakfast with all the trimmings on May 17/08 from 9 - 11 a.m. in the Partners in Worship Church hall. $5.00 for adults 8 years and under $3.00.

Partners in Worship Annual Garage Sale is fast approaching - July 5. If you would like to donate items call Donna at 427-4410 or Sandra at 427-2275.

Community/Club Announcements

Shell Lake & District Chamber of Commerce

Attention to all the businesses in and surrounding Shell lake area - once again, the chamber will be holding its annual cabin drop.

Business flyers/pamphlets will be distributed to approximately 750 cabins within the lake areas. If you are interested in such high advertising coverage for your business, please bring your flyers to the Pine Ridge Cottages for assembly by 7 p.m. on Monday, May 12. Please note that someone from your business is there to help with the bagging process. There is a nominal charge for participation - $25.00 for Chamber members and $35.00 for non members. The delivery date is set for the Friday prior to the long weekend in May. Some cabin owners have noticed a lack of coupons from various businesses, items that used to be included in the bags. Just a reminder that a small item or percentage off coupon may help to promote your business. If you have any questions please contact Joy Ardagh @427-2044.

The Chamber is holding its Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, May 28 at 7:30 p.m. in the Partners in WorshipChurch hall. Elections will be held at this time. New members are always welcome - so come join us if you are interested in promoting our wonderful community!

Shell Lake Metis

Available during the month of May will be free clothing at the Metis Hall.

Aboriginal Day Celebrations for June 22 will begin at 4 p.m. at the Metis hall. Supper will be $5.00 for adults and free hot dogs for the children as well as other activities. Weather permitting this will all take place outside.

Once again we will be having our Saturday bake sales starting the long weekend in May.

RC Legion #15

On Monday, May 15 at 1:30 there will be the laying of Wreaths on Veterans graves at the cemetery. Due to shortage of Legion members there will be a very short ceremony.

Scott Byers from Saskatoon was the lucky winner of the April Lottery 200.

Shell Lake & District Lions Club

The Shell Lake and District Lions Club mourn the loss of long time member Lion Eddie Ouellette. Lion Ed was an enthusiastic and strong supporter of the Shell Lake & District Lions Club. Lion Ed was proud to be a Lion and we want to thank Ed and Dolores Watier for their commemorative display to Lion Ed at his funeral which very appropriately showed his pride as a Shell Lake Lion and his many Lions Club accomplishments.

The 5th annual Shell Lake & District Lions Club Pasta Night Supper and Show was once again another successful event. This year's fund-raiser was for improvements to the Shell Lake Lions hall. We once again thank all our sponsors and all who attended, without your continued support we would not be able to bring to Shell Lake quality professional entertainers such as Heidi Munro and Misdeal. Watch for a full report in an upcoming issue of the Spiritwood Herald.

The next Shell Lake Lions bingo on Wed. May 7th will have a Loonie Pot of $1200.00 + , Jackpot of $1000.00 in 54#, Bonanza of $300.00 in 54#. Please come and join us for an evening of Bingo. We thank all our regular players for your loyal support this past year.

Shell Lake 50 Plus

If you have not as yet renewed your 2008 membership for the Seniors Club, please try to remember to do so.

There appears to be a variety of cake pans just lying around waiting to be picked up by their owners. Is one yours?

The Wellness Clinic continues to be very well supported, with the date for May being the 12th.

Are you keeping track of the miles that you are walking? The walk-a-thon runs from April 1 - May 15 at which time you may contact Gladys Simonar with your totals. 20 minutes of walking totals 1 mile or you can walk 10 blocks for the same mileage.

Resort Village of Echo Bay

The residents of the Resort Village of Echo Bay extend our condolences to Mayor Brian McCaig and wife Sandy in the passing of Sandy's father after an lengthy illness. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time of your family mourning.

Partners in Worship

Sunday worship and Sunday School at 10 a.m.

Roman Catholic Church

Mass is on Sundays at 1:30 p.m. in Our Lady of Smiles Church. On May 17 it will return to Saturday evenings at 9 p.m for the summer months.

Evangelical Free Church, Mont Nebo

Sunday school at 10 a.m. and church service at 11 a.m.

For the Record...

Ken Ness passed away on April 1/08 at the age of 77 years. He leaves to mourn his children: Pam Ness (Brent Walker), Kevin (Linda) Ness and Deirdra (John Lagimodiere) along with their children.

Colleen Simonar of Lloydminster, passed away on April 9/08 at the age of 47 years. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband Bradley , their sons Myles, Reed and Adam, her mother Marion Lafond, sister Rhonda, and brothers Warren and Darrel.

Edward Ouellette passed away on April 19/08 at the age of 78 years. Ed is lovingly remembered by his stepson Ed (Dolores) Watier of Shell Lake, his brothers-in-kaw James Stephenson of Rabbit Lake and Ralph (Pearl) of Shell Lake, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Thank You

The family of the late Earl Crawford wish to express their thanks to the community of Shell Lake for your support, concerns, cards, phone calls and visits during Earl's illness. Earl really appreciated all your visits while he was home for a short period in January. Thank you to those who came down to the funeral and to Pastor David Jenson for conducting the service.

We would like to express our sincere thanks and appreciation for all the support during the passing of Eddy. Thank you to the staff at the Spiritwood Nursing Home and the Leoville home for the few days that he was there.
