Supper & Music Night

Hungry Mann's Diner presents a Supper & Music Night. Come out for supper May 6 and stay for a musical performance by Rod Gjerde and guests. Speciality pastas and regular menu favourites served for the evening. Seating is limited so call to reserve.

After School Program

The Shell Lake After School Program will be presenting "Concert Extravagance Impersonators" May 9 at the Lions Hall at 7:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome - free admission - lunch served.

Shell Lake Craft Store

The Craft Store will be opening for the season on Saturday May 6/06 under new ownership - Carol and Albert Francoeur. Stop in, we will have seed potatoes, onion sets, garden seeds, bedding plants and crafts.

There will be Bedding a Plant sale at the Craft store on May 20 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Yard Sale

Garage Sale at Hobman's -118 Lakeshore Drive Pebble Baye- Everything from dishes to tires. Saturday May 6, from 9:00 a.m to 5:00 p.m.

On May 20 at 10 a.m there will be a yard sale at Greg and Sandra Potts (north of the arena).

Partners in Worship

The Mother's Day Strawberry Tea & Bake Sale is Saturday, May 13th in the church hall from 2:00 - 4:30 pm. Everyone invited.

BCU Financial

BCU Financial will be hosting a Member Appreciation Day on June 7/06. It will be held at the Legion Hall from 11:00 a.m - 2 p.m. They will be serving "Beef on a Bun", cake and refreshments. Please make sure you put your name in for the door prizes. Hope to see there!

Chamber of Commerce

The Great Neighbourhood Give Away at the Gazebo is Sat. May 20, 10:00 a.m - 4:00 p.m. Donated items appreciated. Questions? Contact Lenore at Post Office or 427 4409. The clay oven will be in use with bread & buns for sale.

The "cabin drop" of info for the area will be June 19 - 23. Businesses & organizations with brochures etc. bring your material to Partners in Worship hall on Tuesday, June 13 at 7:00 p.m. The cost to include your advertising is $25 for Chamber members & $35 for non-members. One person is needed from each group to help bag items. Contact Jean at 427- 2002. We would appreciate persons from the surrounding lakes who may be able to distribute these bags to the cabins while out for their daily walk.

We need sponsors for the Mud Bog August long week-end & someone to look after a float for the Heydays parade.

The next Chamber meeting is May 25 at Partners in Worship hall at 7:30 pm.

Shell Lake tourism

The Tourism Committee will be holding the annual spring cleanup on Wed. May 10 beginning at 1 o'clock. Each business is expected to clean their property to the street. The churches, halls and school will organize as they see fit. Coffee and cold drinks will be served in the Library following the cleanup. Thank you to all for co-operating.

Shell Lake Curling club

Our 4th annual golfspiel will be held Saturday June 3, 2006. Best Ball Tourney. Entry fee $35.00 per golfer. Enter as a team or as individuals. Limit of 100 golfers. Entries taken by Greg Potts 427-2262 or Joy Ardagh 427-2044(4749). Registration by 8:30 am June 3. Lunch to follow at the sport shelter at Memorial Lake Park. Donations of prizes or cash donations are greatly appreciated contact Greg or Joy. (Tax receipts for cash donations available).

Shell Lake Minor Sports

We will be inviting a golf pro to Shell Lake to provide golf instruction for all ages and any calibre. Contact Joy Ardagh, or at school Carol Francoeur, to register.

Our fastball season is about to begin. Here is the line-up of home games at the Memorial Lake ball diamonds. Games are at 6:30 p.m.

Thursday May 4 against Medstead (under10) against Spiritwood (under 14); Thursday May 18 against Spiritwood (under10) against Leoville (under 14); Thursday June 15 against Medstead (under 10) against Spiritwood (under 14).

We require two umpires for these evenings, please call Greg at 427-2044(4749) if you are able to help out.

Village of Shell Lake

Mark May 10 on your calendar to have all your leaves and flower bed dead fall ready to be picked up by Kurt and taken to the landfill. This will be in conjunction with the "Community Clean-up" also being held on May 10.

Help Wanted - The Village of Shell Lake is looking for a casual part-time maintenance person.

Duties will include general maintenance, grass cutting, painting, etc. Please forward your resume to "Maintenance Application" Box 280, Shell Lake, SK S0J 2G0.

Mr. Harold Tung has presented the Village of Shell Lake with his resignation effective immediately. Since elections for urban municipalities are scheduled for October /06, this position will remain vacant for the duration of the term.

There will be a public meeting held on May 18 /06 at 7:30 p.m. in the Shell Lake Lion's Hall. Watch your mail box for a newsletter which will outline the meeting's agenda.

R.C. Legion News

We thank everyone who attended and helped with our appreciation supper or all volunteers who physically worked at Memorial Hill.

We are planning a rededication of the monument on June 17. Watch for more info. If anyone has pictures or stories of the hill over the years please call Audrey @ 427-4928 or Bud @ 427-4777 a call.
The lucky winners of the Club 200 were Bud & Flo Dicus.

May 8, we along with students will be laying the wreaths on the Veteran's graves at the cemetery. We invite everyone to attend.

The Legion visited the Shell Lake School this month and presented cheques, certificates and plaques to the students who won at the district and zone levels for their posters or poems. The winners at the zone level were: Brandon Diesen, Jordie Lamontagne, Courtney Hillman, Sylvia Charles and Lowen Clark. Brandon and Sylvia went on to the district and both placed third there. Congratulations to all the students for a job well done !

The annual Shell Lake Metis Trail Ride will be on June 10 & 11. Contact Christine at 427-4813.

The Flea Market will be open on the week ends during the summer months

For the Record

Betty Fletcher passed away March 15/06 at Brentwood Bay, B.C. leaving to mourn her husband Jerry & children Cindy of Sidney, B.C. & Greg of Jakarta, Indonesia. Having one of the earliest cabins at Memorial Lake she & Jerry returned every summer to the place they loved. Due to failing health Betty was unable to make the trip these past 2 summers but looked forward to receiving Hi-lites to keep up with the news.

Dave Mayo passed away at the age of 85 years on April 26/06. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife Ruth and their three sons, Garry, Earl and Darryl and families.
