The Lottery Committee is planning a bigger lottery in the new year. They are looking for help with ideas and welcome new members to the committee. There will be a "brain storming" session on January 10 at 7:30 p.m. in the Village Office. Anyone wishing to participate in any way is urged to attend this meeting.
The committee would like to remind people to write their letters or send emails to Sask. Rivers School Board regarding the impact on the closure of our school.
There will be a public meeting on January 22 at 7 p.m. at the school. Regarding further discussions on proposing a plan to put forth to the Board of Education.

We will be working with a three-person council as no other nominations were received by the posted December 13 deadline date.
Council meetings are held on the 3rd Tuesday of each month with January 16 as the date for the next regular meeting. Everyone has the right to attend public council meetings. There are provisions for councils to exclude the public from all or part of a council meeting if the matter to be discussed:
- Is within one of the exceptions of The Local Authority Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act; or
- Concerns long-range or strategic planning.
Village office is open to the public on Tuesday and Wednesday weekly from 10:00 a.m to 4:00 p.m unless posted differently.
The next meeting of Shell Lake & District Chamber of Commerce is Thursday, January 25 at 7:00 p.m at the Partners in Worship hall.
News Alert : A speaker representing the Chamber Insurance Corporation of Canada will present available insurance & similar plans & benefits for small businesses who may not be able to access dental plans etc. at a reasonable rate no - matter how few employees. You must be a member of the Chamber and the Chamber must be a member of the Saskatchewan body. Joyce Skarpinsky and Denis Proulx won the two baskets in the library raffle. Thank you to all who donated to the baskets and to the ticket sellers as well as those who bought tickets for supporting the library - $200.00 was raised. The Library will be closed all of Christmas week and will open again on January 9. Library hours are Tuesday 10:30 - 4:30 and Wednesday 1:00 to 4:00.

Shell Lake Minor Sports will have beginner, novice and advanced curling instruction available this year. These lessons will begin the week of January 8. We will have an exciting season with the addition of instructors Della Ashe and David Jensen. All students ages 6 and up are encouraged to attend. Cost will be $10.00 per curler. Charlie Elizabeth born on December 22 weighing 7 lbs. 12 ozs. to Claude and Angie Denis. A granddaughter for Ron and Donna Strate and Norm and Murielle Denis. A great granddaughter for Esther Strate, Verner and Phyllis Johnson, Clotaire and Hubertine Denis and Juilliette Poulin.
Andrew Proulx passed away on December 16/06 at the age of 82 years. He leaves to cherish is memories his children: Verna (Richard) Creed; Doris (Doug) Pitceathly; Raymond (Carol); Lorraine (Laverne) Pitceathly; Hilda (Larry) Muloin; and Larry (Sa); thirteen grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Gordon Loseth passed away on December 18/06 at the age of 79 years. He is survived by his daughter Holly and son Dan along with their families. He was living in Valemount B.C.
Clare Miniely passed away on December 21/06 at the age of 81 years. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband Ken, her daughter Linda (Ted Glover), her son Al (Wendy) and their families and her brother John (Marilyn) Morrow and family.

We would like to thank Judy Mayo for the lovely supper she prepared for our tenant association Christmas supper. Also thank you to Gilles Francoeur, Emil Lamontagne, Heather Mann and Bud Dicus who provided us with entertainment after our supper.
Thank you also to the K - 3 school children, Lana Kyliuk, Jackie Woytiuk and Heather Mann for coming to the Villa and singing Christmas Carols and reading for us.
