Rock Garden
The rock garden has been dismantled because Imperial Oil holds the lease and there has been an environmental issue therefore the ground has to be cleaned up before turning it back to the village.
Some of the items have been sold and some were given to the park. All of the money received will be used to rebuild a park of some sort in the future.
Thank you to everyone who has helped in any way.
July 1st Celebrations
Attendance was better than ever on July 1 for our weiner roast and fire works, everyone seemed to enjoy the evening. Thanks to all who worked to make our celebration a success. A special thanks to John Morrow for supplying the entertainment again. Thanks to the Memorial Lake Regional Park Authority for helping sponsor the fire works and for supplying an excellent facility. A huge thanks to Sid Helgeton and Glen Brettle for setting off a very impressive fireworks show.
Hey Days
Once again Hey Days was a huge success. All events were well attended and the weather was perfect. The parade was smaller than in the past but enjoyed by a very large crowd. Thanks to all the people who entered the parade. Hey Days is a great event because so any groups and businesses are willing to sponsor events throughout the weekend. Thank you to all who took the time to do this. The outdoor dance and beer gardens was new this year and very well attended. Many people expressed the hope that we would continue it next year.
Tourism would like to thank all the volunteers who helped. A huge thanks to the museum board, village council and Henry Simonar for agreeing to supply the facilities for the dance.
Thanks to Doug Johnson for bringing in a chicken to our chicken "dump" ling lottery. Tanner Mandziak from Kelliher, SK.. was the winner of $272.00 when the chicken dumped on his name.
The July lucky winner of the Lottery 250 was Andy Cyr of Leask.
A big thank you to all who helped at the hamburger stand during Hey Day. Thank you also to all who bought tickets for the next lottery.
Thank you everyone for your visits & expressions of concern during my stay in hospital & upon my return home. One receives excellent care in Shellbrook but a new facility is badly needed & I can only encourage everyone to support their fund-raising efforts.

A special HUGE thank you to all the wonderful caring people who said prayers, sent cards, phoned, dropped in for coffee and brought gifts of flowers and food during my recovery. Words alone cannot possibly convey the emotions I felt. To know how much so many people cared was far beyond what I knew. The kindness and compassion shown not only for myself but for my entire family has meant so much. A huge thank you to Brent for looking after things for Ellis. To a very special lady, Diane, you have no idea how I felt to come home after a horrible treatment to find supper in my BBQ, you didn't only make my day. The list is long, and the thank yous are many but I want all to know that you are in my thoughts, as I have said, words alone are only that, no one is forgotten or taken for granted, I assure you we appreciated every act of kindness and concern.

The golf course at Memorial Lake Regional Park is in
the best shape it has been in years. Not excluding the great
fairway and green maintenance, and the work into planting
and caring for all the new trees that have been planted, I would
like to commend the people involved in designing and
growing the flower gardens. The flower garden on
tee number 3 and number 5, are an example of someone
who takes pride in what they are doing. If you don't golf
but love looking at those picturesque scenes that we
usually see in calendars, I suggest to buy a round of golf to
support our park, just to experience the beauty of this course.
Thank you to the park
board and all staff that ensure we have one of the
prettiest golf courses in Canada.
