We've had a memorial service for him in Eamer Court (Saskatoon) where he had lived for the last 20yrs. We will be laying him to rest with his parents in Hawkeye with a memorial tea in Shell Lake. As of now the date is undecided. I will be sure to let you all know when it will be. Dad is sadly missed by us and by everyone whose hearts he touched. Harry,Deb & Linda

Linda Walsh (Haigh)

Comments: My name is Linda Walsh(Haigh) and I live in Surrey, BC. My husband Jack and I are semi retired. I was just told about this website a few weeks ago and since then have spent a few hours pouring over the guest book, trying to remember all the names and who or how they belong. Thank goodness the ladies are adding their maiden names! I moved to Shell Lake from Canwood part way through grade 8 and graduated in 1965. My father (Frank Haigh) was the CNR station agent and my mother(Mabel) worked at some point in Sadie Proctor's telephone office. When they retired, they moved into Frank Gooden's house just behind the community hall. Both have since passed on and I no longer had a real link to the community and what was happening. Congratulations to the efforts of the Shell Lake web site. I will be an avid reader from now on. I look forward to anyone willing to contact me to catch up on a "few" of the years past. Linda

Name: Debbie Ohrn

Comments: Hello. I had send a message a couple days ago informing anyone reading the guestbook that our Dad John Ohrn had passed away. We will be having a Memorial Tea at the Lions Hall in Shell Lake on July 29th from 2pm-4pm with the Inurnment to follow at the Hawkeye Cemetery.

Arnie Nermo

Comments: Hi Folks, It's so nice in this day and age to quickly visit the web and get the latest news about happenings in ShellLake, Saskatchewan. I first visited our familie's homestead beside the lake, when I was 13, and the impression has stayed in my heart and memories for a lifetime. Although, Dad settled in B.C., after the war, he would thrill us with wild tales of his adventures and up-bringing at Shell Lake; so much so, that one of us Nermo's can be seen every so often, in town, making the required visit. Say "Hi!" to cousin Donna for us at the Hotel, and cousin Lorne Nelson (I still feel bad about loosing your favourite hat in the lake, and I am sure you do too!) Also, a special hello to Arnie Surestead, I hope the intervening 40 years has treated you well, since we last adventured together. All the best to everyone. Arnie Nermo (PS. You all have to see the sat-photos of the lake from the Google Earth website - incredible!)

Comments: Thanks for the interesting info on the clay oven, it is so very informative, and with the pictures it is great. Shell lake rings a bell. As i beleive that my stepfathr the late Elmer Borgan was from there. I also worked with a girl from there a few years ago her married name was Janice Nicklin. Anyway thanks you for the nice read and hope to someday have a look at your community
